russian gravestones
Monday, April 7th, 2008Below are some gravestones in a the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia. Yekaterinburg has been home to many infamous russian gangsters, many of whom fell in the “metal wars” of the 1990s. The highly detailed granite stones have been etched with portraits of the deceased…….. tasteful. For a whole lot more visit englishrussia.
In a cruel twist, just three miles from where these gravestones stand is the spot where in 1918 the last tsar of Russia, Nicholas II, his wife, Alexandra, and their five children were executed by Bolsheviks on the orders of Lenin. But there is no memorial to them. Their bodies were soaked in acid and burned before being disposed in a mineshaft (source: the mailonsunday).
